Jerseys

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Apparently, this is the USA jersey for the WBC.  What is with the retarded looking “S”?  It would look so much nicer with an “S” that matches the other letters.
The nicest looking one is the Venezuela jersey.  Maybe I’ll get a Zambrano.

Paganism

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

It seems that the Cubs have picked up another outfielder with the slightly ironic name of Angel Pagan.  He’s 24, is a switch hitter, and has hit .282 so far in the minors.  The article says he will be added to the 40-man.  Could this be a platoon possiblity for right?

Money Matters

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

Here’s something interesting that I ran across while googling a subject that had nothing to do with baseball or politics.  CampaignMoney.com is a website that follow campaign contributions and lists who is giving what to whom.  Among the notables featured on their sidebar are the Cubs, Yankees, and Red Sox.  It’s also interesting to note […]

This Is A Promotion?

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

There’s an article over at the Trib that runs down the coaching changes in the Cubs minor league system.  I know people have already jumped all over Jody Davis becoming the Peoria A manager, but the oddest thing I noticed was that Bobby Dickerson, the manager for the best club in the Cubs organizations last […]

From the Chicago Tribune -

Dusty gave a pre-convention interview to (or at least covered by) staff reporter Dave van Dyke. My favorite Dusty-ism was the acknowledgment/brushoff when asked about the Cubs poor fundamentals last season.

“We can’t keep beating ourselves up over what happened last year or else it will never leave us. My teams […]

Sutter

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

Congratulations to former Cub Bruce Sutter on his election to the Hall of Fame!
Sutter started his career with the Cubs in 1976 and was solid in the bullpen until he was sent to the Cardinals in the trade that brought in Leon Durham in December of 1980. He won the Cy Young and his […]

Bye, Bye

Monday, January 9th, 2006

First, the Tejada drama finally went away, now, so does the Patterson one.
It’s no surprise that the Cubs dumped Corey this off-season - it was just a matter of when and what would we get for him.  I’m sure that the Cubs wanted to seal the deal before they would have to start answering questions […]

Augie’s Back!

I still remember how pumped the crowd was the last game of the regular season in 2003 when the Cubs were down 3-2 and Augie led off the bottom of the ninth. He singled and the crowd went nuts. He ended up being stranded at second as the Cubs lost the game, […]
